An urban ecology of chance was a month-long residency project with Red Gate Gallery in Beijing, completed in April 2009.

An exploration of the architecture, inhabitants and ecology of what may become one of the most culturally significant metropolises in the decades to come, employed chance in the creative process, in order to avoid total conscious control of the product.

Seven works, along with a blog and UK exhibition comprise the project. Live video from my Beijing studio was also streamed, and is available to view here.

This project was supported by the National Lottery through Arts Council England and The Confucius Institute at The University of Manchester.

The UK exhibition was supported by Interval and hosted by easa010.
