Background
In public parks in Beijing and Shanghai I have heard music played through speakers throughout the park. Sometimes these speakers are mounted on lampposts but sometimes they are cunningly disguised as tree stumps or rocks. Both in Britain and China our relationship with nature is often equally as sanitized inside the gates of the city park as it is outside.

In this work audio recorded in a public park is presented in the gallery space, through a speaker cunningly disguised inside a household object.

Sporadic crescendos of toad calls are interrupted by noises of park workers and passers-by.
