My work frequently harnesses chance as a creative force in order to explore our relationships with the quotidian.

Working across disciplines, I have used live animals, digital media, language and interventions to create work that encourages the audience to re-examine natural and cultural phenomena from the world around them.

Through these disparate process-led methodologies, I aim to provide a platform for myself and the viewer to connect with universal truths related to existence and our humanity.

Having been based in mainland China from 2011-2021, some of my work has been influenced by a modern Chinese aesthetic.

Featured Projects

Mortality Reminder

Mortality Reminder invites the viewer to activate a glowstick, triggering a radiance that echoes our mortality in its temporality. The glowstick will fade in a matter of hours, the knowledge of which operates as a modern momento mori motif.

Release

Release is a series of works inspired by the Buddhist practice of 'life release', which sees captive animals bought and released into the wild.

BITMING
